Canon EOS Rebel T6 Kit with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 is II Lens + Accessory Bundle is what I started out with. I love the remote live view feature that allows me to connect it to my phone. If I were to buy a camera today though, I’d say mirrorless is where photography is heading.
Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM Camera Fixed Lens is a perfect budget lens (nicknamed the ‘nifty fifty’). You get a nice wide aperture for a very reasonable price. The Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard and Medium Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras is on my wish list.
Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom are fantastic tools for taking your photography to the next level. There’s a free trial available which you can try to check if it’s the right software for you. It was a steep learning curve to learn how to use this software, but worth it in the long run.
How to Photograph Food: Compose, Shoot, and Edit Appetizing Images by Beata Lubas is a book you can read over and over again. As your knowledge of food photography advances, each piece of advice will take on new meaning and you’ll realize it can applied in different ways. I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
